Fred Connors has been a beauty industry trailblazer for over 30 years, having started as a salon apprentice in the mid-80’s. He launched his first salon, Treka, 30 years ago with close friend Cleo Xidos in the historic Green Lantern Building in downtown Halifax. 18 years later, Fred along with his life partner, Joel Flewelling, opened his second salon, a luxury lifestyle concept FRED. beauty food art. Housed in the iconic Bank of Nova Scotia building on the corner of North and Agricola, this location became an anchor in the neighbourhood and helped ignite the renaissance of Halifax’s North End. Shortly after, Fred developed a signature line of cosmetics, FRED.face. This universal range of high quality cosmetics promises that four products in three minutes is all you need to look and feel more beautiful. 

In 2006, Fred started appearing nationally as a renowned lifestyle and make over expert on the award-winning television series, “X-Weighted” and later as a beauty expert on the “Marilyn Dennis Show.” His expertise and excellence in all he does has been acknowledged by Flare magazine, Canadian House and Home, Canadian Living, Elle Canada, Time Out New York and many more. 

In 2014, Fred opened his third salon in New York City’s vibrant neighbourhood, the Lower East Side. This boutique atelier concept proved very popular. Time Out New York magazine heralded FRED. nyc as one of the top 10 salons in NYC both in 2015 and 2016. 

Inspired by the New York salon's boutique concept, Fred launched his fourth salon also on Agricola St in Halifax, with a keen focus on beauty. Working with a small team of beauty pros, FRED. continues the promise to elevate everyday and every visit to the extraordinary.
